I am an idiot,  once the kids were in bed and I had a chance to look closer at my merge.
it seems I was copying the AMD side over the i386 side.  I have fixed that and the gcc test was successful.

I will finish running the test suite against the other apps and will get a link to them out today.
if all goes well I will have the packages in testing in a few days...
