The patch went into the -noexternals branch (thanks for testing Ben!)
and isn't yet available on the regular GAR branch.

Dago, would you mind checking the diff of the -noexternals branch. It
should be fully compatible for regular (non-mgar-wrapper) usage and thus
a candidate for merging.
