This is an "unsubstantiated claim". I havent seen anything to indicate
that would happen, and in contrast, I've seen plenty of evidence that
this would NOT usually happen.
Specific evidence: we have had "important" packages languishing as
orphaned, for months (if not YEARS), and no single maintainer has
stepped up to take them over (never mind "two other maintainers" that
you claim :-D )
