Unfortunately, I don't have the time to take over this. However, if anyone
else does work on recompiling this, please take a look at any optimization
that can be performed. The current 2.6.8 version is quite a bit slower in
many operations than the previous 2.4 version. But the real killer is with
the Color->Curves command. It take around 20 seconds for the Adjust Color
Curves menu to display the first time on my SPARC V250 and takes around
8-10 seconds to display after that. After adjusting the curves, it again
take 20+ seconds to apply the adjustment to a small photograph. This is
probably five times slower than the previous version of the program and
this is really slowing down editing work dramatically. There is something
seriously wrong here that might be able to be isolated if monitored in a
debugger.

Long ago I posted info. regarding this on gimp forums/mailing lists asking
for experience by others and tips for optimization, but received no useful
replies. It doesn't look like there are many Solaris users who are willing
to share their experience. I also tried to contact Ken Mays, the previous
maintainer, but heard nothing back from him.

Regards,
