Looks pretty good, but should this line:

bash ${PKG_INSTALL_ROOT}/opt/csw/bin/mktexlsr ||

be:

chroot ${PKG_INSTALL_ROOT} bash /opt/csw/bin/mktexlsr ||

I think the script would get confused about where to look for its
files otherwise, no?
