Our search[1] doesn't find it. I think this package is the GNU file. I could just rename it to /opt/csw/bin/gfile, following our tradition. It was /opt/csw/bin/file initially, but had to be renamed to /opt/csw/bin/gfile. We seem to follow the rule of providing gawk in CSWgawk, ggrep in CSWggrep, and so on. Yes, look at a typical package filename: autoconf-2.65,REV=2009.11.22-SunOS5.8-sparc-CSW.pkg.gz The '-' is used as a separator in catalog names. It bungs up the parsing of filenames (hence the checkpkg errors you got) and catalog stuff. I'm not sure what the original reasoning was, but it's definitely enshrined at this point. The package name _can_ have dashes though. Ok then, I suggest the following actions: - Make CSWpmlistmoreutils incompatible with CSWpmlistmoreut as both have no packages depending on it. The package is maintained by Benny, I don't know if he has idle by now. I can do a courtesy rebuild if necessary. Then CSWpmlistmoreut should be removed from the catalog. - Make CSWpmprmsvldt an empty stub depending on CSWpmparamsvalidate - File bugs against packages depending on CSWpmprmsvldt to depend on CSWpmparamsvalidate instead - After resolving all these remove CSWpmprmsvldt from the catalog and make it incompatible to CSWpmparamsvalidate Comments? Consider this: If a maintainer submits a package... but then realizes they made a mistake, and submits a new package, before I even get to it... it should not be my job to cleanup their older junk. The submitpkg program should take care of removing the old stuff automatically. and if it should take care of it in that case, it makes sense for it to always do that. True. Consider this: A maintainer pushes a package which you reject and erranously chose a broken catalog name. The rejection script can get rid of it, the submitpkg script can not. Same is true if the maintainer won't bother updating a rejected package - and exactly that is happening: newpkgs/ is filling up with old stuff. Not good. I see two usecases here: One is the overriding of packages which have not been processed (which should go into submitpkg), the other one is for packages that are rejected (which should go into releasepkg). As far as the shared database is concerned, the pile of balls of crumpled paper next to my desk is still growing. I still haven't decided what's the best way of going about it. I think the override for "file with bad content", shoud simply say "turn off bad content checks", rather than explicitly adding more "bad content" matching strings. But reguardless, that override wont even be needed any more, for cswutils specifically since the "bad strings" are no longer directly present in cswutils. Yes, that's true. The build file could just say: CHECKPKG_OVERRIDES_CSWcswutils += file-with-bad-content ...and it would be enough. (With the downside being, if a new bad content appeared, it wouldn't be detected.) > But reguardless, that override wont even be needed any more, for > cswutils specifically since the "bad strings" are no longer directly > present in cswutils. Might it be better to define an API for accessing the "official" filename path repository, rather than hoping the package has been seen by that build machine before? Ideally, some API that allows for a common shared local cached copy, rather than "every maintainer has their own cache" ? BTW: we should probably continue this on maintainers list. and I'm processing the new cups packages now :) From phil at bolthole.com Tue Jun 29 17:51:11 2010 From: phil at bolthole.com (Philip Brown) Date: Tue, 29 Jun 2010 08:51:11 -0700 Subject: [csw-pkgsubmissions] newpkgs ldns, ldns_devel In-Reply-To: <201006290732.o5T7Wvus020612@login.bo.opencsw.org> References: <201006290732.o5T7Wvus020612@login.bo.opencsw.org> Message-ID: batched On Tue, Jun 29, 2010 at 12:32 AM, Ihsan Dogan wrote: > * ldns: revision upgrade (fixes a mising depedency) > ?- from: 2010.06.24 > ?- ? to: 2010.06.28 > ?+ ldns-1.6.5,REV=2010.06.28-SunOS5.9-i386-CSW.pkg.gz > ?+ ldns-1.6.5,REV=2010.06.28-SunOS5.9-sparc-CSW.pkg.gz > ?+ ldns_devel-1.6.5,REV=2010.06.28-SunOS5.9-i386-CSW.pkg.gz > ?+ ldns_devel-1.6.5,REV=2010.06.28-SunOS5.9-sparc-CSW.pkg.gz > > -- > Generated by submitpkg > _______________________________________________ > pkgsubmissions mailing list > pkgsubmissions at lists.opencsw.org > https://lists.opencsw.org/mailman/listinfo/pkgsubmissions > From bonivart at opencsw.org Wed Jun 30 13:35:47 2010 From: bonivart at opencsw.org (Peter Bonivart) Date: Wed, 30 Jun 2010 13:35:47 +0200 Subject: [csw-pkgsubmissions] /newpkgs (current) rbldnsd Message-ID: New package: rbldnsd-0.996b,REV=2010.06.30-SunOS5.9-i386-CSW.pkg.gz rbldnsd-0.996b,REV=2010.06.30-SunOS5.9-sparc-CSW.pkg.gz -- /peter From bonivart at opencsw.org Wed Jun 30 17:05:11 2010 From: bonivart at opencsw.org (Peter Bonivart) Date: Wed, 30 Jun 2010 17:05:11 +0200 (CEST) Subject: [csw-pkgsubmissions] newpkgs tnef Message-ID: <201006301505.o5UF5BlH007003@login.bo.opencsw.org> * tnef: patchlevel upgrade - from: 1.4.6,REV=2009.09.29 - to: 1.4.7,REV=2010.06.30 + tnef-1.4.7,REV=2010.06.30-SunOS5.9-i386-CSW.pkg.gz + tnef-1.4.7,REV=2010.06.30-SunOS5.9-sparc-CSW.pkg.gz -- Generated by submitpkg From maciej at opencsw.org Wed Jun 30 17:21:02 2010 From: maciej at opencsw.org (Maciej (Matchek) Blizinski) Date: Wed, 30 Jun 2010 16:21:02 +0100 Subject: [csw-pkgsubmissions] cups packages batched.. no wait... I never thought of it as something that needs caching. The separation between stats collection and analysis exists mainly because it makes the development easier. Operationally it doesn't make that much difference for one maintainer. The positive impact in operational terms is the biggest when analyzing the whole catalog. There are also data about the system files and the catalog, which are in a sqlite database, which caches the content of /var/sadm/install/contents. This might be beneficial to share, but it requires careful planning and needs to armored against race conditions during updates. It's something I intend to do, but it'll take time. In-Reply-To: References: Message-ID: it shouldn't take that much time; define the sqlite database as a publically writable location, have updates be done by "download the latest db and then mv it into place" which is atomic. only thing left is to define export interface from our official file path database. you could actually reduce it's code a lot since you won't have to extract and parse pkgs yourself :)
