/opt/csw/lib/cups was previously installed by the CSWgimpprint
package. any thoughts ideas on how to go about this?

Hi,

I recently updated with pkg-get -U -u. My KDE install has fallen over slightly though. I now have kdebase_gcc 3.2.1,REV=2004.04.04 and kdelibs_gcc 3.2.3.

The problem is that none of the icons are found. When I log in, the splash screen is blank (no picture or icons) and there are no desktop/menu/button icons.

I've tried removing kde and reinstalling, but to no avail.

Any suggestions?

Yes, recently had the same problem, it's not KDE but qt_gcc causing it. 
You need to pkgrm qt_gcc .3.3.2 and revert to qt_gcc-3.3.0

Hi all
 
Has anyone tried using mplayer's mencoder to rip to DivX on a sparc?
 
I've tried the using the example command from the manual:
mencoder dvd://2 -ovc lavc -lavcopts vcodec=mpeg4:vpass=1 -oac copy -o
movie.avi
mencoder dvd://2 -ovc lavc -lavcopts vcodec=mpeg4:vpass=2 -oac copy -o
movie.avi
 
I'm finding that mencoder just goes into a loop and will continue until
the hardisk is full.
Is this just a feature with the csw build or generally with a sparc with
this version.
 
I had no problems ripping with the prev version of mplayer 1.0pre3 (it
was just slow).
 
Also does this version of mplayer make use of the sun "mlib" as detailed
in the manual part 6.3

when trying to install part of Ken May's KDE I get the following problem:

$ sudo pkgadd -d kdeaddons_gcc-3.2.0-SunOS5.8-sparc-CSW.pkg

    The <CSWkdemultimedia> package "" is a prerequisite
    package and should be installed.
WARNING:
    The <CSWimagick> package "" is a prerequisite package
    and should be installed.


Can anyone hand me a clue-stick as to where I might obtain these 
packages? They do not appear to be on Ken's page nor part of the regular 
download collection.

I talked to a mplayer developer and he said, that you should send
a bug report to the mplayer developers.

I have problems with libraries at almost each application.

They are similiar as for example by gnome-terminal or gimp.

gnome-terminal:

ld.so.1: ./gnome-terminal: fatal: relocation error: file 
/opt/csw/lib/libgnomeui-2.so.0: symbol gdk_threads_unlock: referenced 
symbol not found

gimp:


ld.so.1: ./gimp: fatal: relocation error: file ./gimp: symbol 
gdk_threads_lock: referenced symbol not found


I think it matters with the LD_LIBRARY_PATH. When I do
"env | grep LD_LIBRARY_PATH" I do not see any variable.

The instructions on www.blastwave.org tell, that this path should not be 
set. (http://www.blastwave.org/userguide/).

As the LD_LIBRARY_PATH is not set in my system, the applications should 
work. But they do not. I cannot find the reason.

Would it make sense to export the LD_LIBRARY_PATH as mentioned in the 
instructions: "LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/opt/csw/lib/$ISALIST" ? But what is 
"$ISALIST"?. This variable is not known in my system.
Can someone give some hints, how to solve this problem.

BTW: I use Solaris 9 for intel.

hi all!

when installing cups i get

# pkg-get install cups

pkgadd: ERROR: no packages were found in </opt/csw/lib/cups>
pkgadd: ERROR: no packages were found in </opt/csw/lib/cups>

/opt/csw/lib/cups was previously installed by the CSWgimpprint
package. any thoughts ideas on how to go about this?

Hi,

I recently updated with pkg-get -U -u. My KDE install has fallen over slightly though. I now have kdebase_gcc 3.2.1,REV=2004.04.04 and kdelibs_gcc 3.2.3.

The problem is that none of the icons are found. When I log in, the splash screen is blank (no picture or icons) and there are no desktop/menu/button icons.

I've tried removing kde and reinstalling, but to no avail.

Any suggestions?

Yes, recently had the same problem, it's not KDE but qt_gcc causing it. 
You need to pkgrm qt_gcc .3.3.2 and revert to qt_gcc-3.3.0

Hi all
 
Has anyone tried using mplayer's mencoder to rip to DivX on a sparc?
 
I've tried the using the example command from the manual:
mencoder dvd://2 -ovc lavc -lavcopts vcodec=mpeg4:vpass=1 -oac copy -o
movie.avi
mencoder dvd://2 -ovc lavc -lavcopts vcodec=mpeg4:vpass=2 -oac copy -o
movie.avi
 
I'm finding that mencoder just goes into a loop and will continue until
the hardisk is full.
Is this just a feature with the csw build or generally with a sparc with
this version.
 
I had no problems ripping with the prev version of mplayer 1.0pre3 (it
was just slow).
 
Also does this version of mplayer make use of the sun "mlib" as detailed
in the manual part 6.3

Hi all

when trying to install part of Ken May's KDE I get the following problem:

$ sudo pkgadd -d kdeaddons_gcc-3.2.0-SunOS5.8-sparc-CSW.pkg
[..snip..]
WARNING:
    The <CSWkdemultimedia> package "" is a prerequisite
    package and should be installed.
WARNING:
    The <CSWimagick> package "" is a prerequisite package
    and should be installed.


Can anyone hand me a clue-stick as to where I might obtain these 
packages? They do not appear to be on Ken's page nor part of the regular 
download collection.

I talked to a mplayer developer and he said, that you should send
a bug report to the mplayer developers.

I have problems with libraries at almost each application.

They are similiar as for example by gnome-terminal or gimp.

gnome-terminal:

ld.so.1: ./gnome-terminal: fatal: relocation error: file 
/opt/csw/lib/libgnomeui-2.so.0: symbol gdk_threads_unlock: referenced 
symbol not found

gimp:


ld.so.1: ./gimp: fatal: relocation error: file ./gimp: symbol 
gdk_threads_lock: referenced symbol not found


I think it matters with the LD_LIBRARY_PATH. When I do
"env | grep LD_LIBRARY_PATH" I do not see any variable.

The instructions on www.blastwave.org tell, that this path should not be 
set. (http://www.blastwave.org/userguide/).

As the LD_LIBRARY_PATH is not set in my system, the applications should 
work. But they do not. I cannot find the reason.

Would it make sense to export the LD_LIBRARY_PATH as mentioned in the 
instructions: "LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/opt/csw/lib/$ISALIST" ? But what is 
"$ISALIST"?. This variable is not known in my system.
Can someone give some hints, how to solve this problem.

BTW: I use Solaris 9 for intel.

update all your CSW libraries:

pkg-get upgrade
