Hi All,

   Thanks to James Lee for figuring out what I was doing wrong:

    To run pkg-get I changed to root using "su".  This meant that my
personal umask settings were inherited rather than those of root. This
created the problems with the directory permissions.

    Solution: Change to root using "su -". With that everything runs
smoothly.
