This will remove the programs, but not the database files, my.cnf or log files. Since you want to start over and assuming that you do not want to keep any mysql databases, my.cnf or log files, you could also run `rm -Rf /opt/csw/mysql4`. Please be sure to read the notes for mysql4 installation by clicking the 'View news and info' button at http:www.blastwave.org/packages/CSWmysql4 Alex From james at blastwave.org Thu Oct 6 12:10:23 2005 From: james at blastwave.org (James Lee) Date: Thu, 06 Oct 2005 10:10:23 GMT Subject: [csw-users] Tomcat 5 Running as Root In-Reply-To: <3a74b99d0510050923t6180e557j3af56d792a3a16cc@mail.gmail.com> References: <3a74b99d0510032110k15d3f5fax9d220f1395c6a64f@mail.gmail.com> <20051005.13373400.3430806860@landeck.jamesipoos.com> <3a74b99d0510050923t6180e557j3af56d792a3a16cc@mail.gmail.com> Message-ID: <20051006.10102300.2176115476@landeck.jamesipoos.com> On 05/10/05, 17:23:42, Eric Enright wrote regarding Re: [csw-users] Tomcat 5 Running as Root: > > You have to run as root to open the privileged ports (< 1024). Any by default Tomcat binds to 8080, and from what I understand > it is common to connect to Tomcat through Apache. It's common but I suspect often unnecessary. The reasons for running with Apache are because: Java servlets are a small part of the site, you need some plugin feature of Apache like mod_php, you have a huge web site, or are distribution the services for load sharing. Don't add in Apache for just the port mapping, you can do this across an interface when routed to the end users. There should be no problem with serving all content, ie, the plain files as well, true apache can do it with slightly less CPU but why worry when it's so easy anyway. Remember it adds an overhead for non-plain files and those are the ones that take effort already. > > Tomcat could do the same. Two important notes about this package set: o The ap2_modphp5 module has a direct dependency on the ap2_prefork MPM module. If you choose to run ap2_modphp5 with the ap2_worker MPM module, you do so at your own risk. If any scripts and/or modules running in such a configuration call code which is not thread safe (e.g. calling into a non-standard extension installed locally via PEAR), Bad Stuff may happen. This will likely result in the Apache child segfaulting, but effects may be more severe. If you want to run ap2_modphp5 in production, it is strongly advised to use it with ap2_prefork. o PHP extensions which have unique dependencies are packaged separately. Each of these extension packages enable and disable the modules by editing php.ini when the package is installed or removed. Note that by default, php.ini is used by all of the available SAPIs, including apache, apache2, and CLI. It is possible to create a separate copy of php.ini for each of the SAPIs -- e.g. php-apache.ini, php-cli.ini (See http://www.php.net/manual/en/configuration.php for details). If this layout is chosen, adding and removing php5_* extension packages will only update php.ini, they will *not* enable/disable modules in any SAPI-specific php.ini files. -- Cory Omand From Biddle at comidamexicana.com Sat Oct 22 19:50:23 2005 From: Biddle at comidamexicana.com (Doctor) Date: Sat, 22 Oct 2005 13:50:23 -0400 Subject: [csw-users] The Ultimate Online Pharmaceutical Message-ID: <2333027032.20051022135023@comidamexicana.com> Vlaigra $3.3 Leviltra $3.3 Ciawlis $3.7 Imitjrex $16.4 Flomrax $2.2 Ultrbam $0.78 Viotxx $4.75 Ambcien $2.2 Valfium $0.97 Xanacx $1.09 Sojma $3 Meriqdia $2.2 our site http://servicoken.com/?GFSMKDREFWRkZxXlpHQUIcUVhUQkZEVUNUHFxGUg== ___ Best regards, Online Pharmaceuticals range of credit cards. dgjkjutyr REFWRkZxXlpHQUIcUVhUQkZEVUNUHFxGUg== -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Thanx. Should I bug report? From comand at blastwave.org Mon Oct 31 23:04:31 2005 From: comand at blastwave.org (Cory Omand) Date: Mon, 31 Oct 2005 14:04:31 -0800 Subject: [csw-users] ANNOUNCE: apache2 2.0.55 Message-ID: <436694EF.5090909@blastwave.org> Happy Halloween! New packages for apache2 version 2.0.55 are now available in unstable. The 2.0.55 is primarily a bug and security fix revision. See the list of fixes in this version at: http://www.apache.org/dist/httpd/CHANGES_2.0.55 The Blastwave apache2 packages include a number of bug fixes. Some of the bugs that are present in the current package set will likely cause issues during upgrade. On package removal, the incorrect directory is passed to the 'chroot' utility in preremove scripts for ap2_suexec, ap2_modperl, and ap2_modpython. This causes the following message to be output before files are removed: chroot("/opt/csw/apache2/sbin/apxs"): Not a directory The message is harmless, however, the module will not be disabled in httpd.conf. This will cause ap2_prefork (or ap2_worker) to be unable to properly shut down httpd in the preremove script, giving an error message indicating that the server is unable to load a loadable module (e.g. mod_suexec.so). For this upgrade, it is best to remove the existing packages manually, then install the new packages using pkg-get, rather than using the pkg-get automated upgrade mode. The proper order for removing apache2 is: CSWap2_suexec CSWapache2 CSWap2_prefork (or CSWap2_worker) CSWapache2c CSWapache2rt It is not necessary to remove modules which were installed on top of apache2 (e.g. ap2_subversion). However, the same bug which affects removal of packages like ap2_suexec also affects ap2_modperl and ap2_modpython. Updates for both of these packages are also available in unstable. During removal of the above packages, ignore any errors. After removal is complete, ensure that apache2 httpd is not running, then re-install apache2. -- Cory Omand From alekz at xs4all.nl Mon Oct 31 23:30:37 2005 From: alekz at xs4all.nl (Alexey Kuzmichev) Date: Mon, 31 Oct 2005 23:30:37 +0100 (CET) Subject: [csw-users] Gedit and CSWlibcairo In-Reply-To: <436694EF.5090909@blastwave.org> Message-ID: <20051031232200.G24474-100000@xs3.xs4all.nl> Looks like there is a problem with the freshly built gedit-2.12.0: # pkg-get -i gedit . . . Until I can get an update in the catalog, run `pkg-get -i openldap_rt` to fix this. After this and as a safeguard, one of the scenario failures also needs `pkgrm CSWoldap` and 'pkg-get -i openldap`. An updated openldap_client package will be available shortly. I do not see how this one slipped by me. It's possible to login but you can't move or in any other way manipulate windows. Seems like no window manager is present. I myself am a GNOME user and only provide the CSW KDE to others at my site. Anyone with same experience? And is it possible to revert to the previous kdebase_gcc? Obtain previous versions here: http://blastwave.informatik.uni-erlangen.de/oldpkgs/unstable/ Or get the package from stable or just use stable in the first place. James. -- Cory Omand From alekz at xs4all.nl Mon Oct 31 23:30:37 2005 From: alekz at xs4all.nl (Alexey Kuzmichev) Date: Mon, 31 Oct 2005 23:30:37 +0100 (CET) Subject: [csw-users] Gedit and CSWlibcairo In-Reply-To: <436694EF.5090909@blastwave.org> Message-ID: <20051031232200.G24474-100000@xs3.xs4all.nl> Looks like there is a problem with the freshly built gedit-2.12.0: # pkg-get -i gedit . . .
