Look to procmail.  There is the -f option and the man pages talks
about:

     line, it will generate an additional `>From ' line  to  help
     distinguish fake mails.

And a few other reference in the procmail docs.  So I think procmail
is doing it but I can't say straight off what you do to cure your
problem.
