I'm comparing a Solaris 10 X86 installation (stable) with a Linux
Debian based one. According to the Linux distro, there are
php4_mail-mime and php4_fpdf available for installation.

Are these libs available on Solaris as well ?

Emacs 21.4 itself; after that, you install, using pkgadd, the
CVS Emacs corresponding to your architecture and, if you're a TeX user,
the nifty AucTex package.

There is a new dependency on CSWungif that must be installed prior to
the CSWemacs package installation.

Note that this version includes the successors of: oortgnus and
emacscalc, available as Blastwave packages, and many other, previously
separate, packages --- e.g., tramp.

I'll made a new testing package the next month.

P.S. I made a mistake in the REV string 20070102 instead of 20070201;
     however, the package was generated today.

hello,
i installed cups 1.2.7 on solaris 10 x86 U3.
i'm using http://localhost:631 to add a usb printer, but when cups ask 
for passwd, it failed, even with machine root passwd.
I tried to give a password witch lppasswd, which writes in 
/opt/csw/etc/cups/passwd.md5
in error.log, i got:
E [01/Feb/2007:14:58:34 -0100] CUPS-Add-Modify-Printer: Unauthorized
E [01/Feb/2007:14:58:38 -0100] cupsdAuthorize: pam_acct_mgmt() returned 
7 (Permission denied)!

what's the matter?

  * Small modifications to make pca-proxy.cgi run under Linux
  * Generate links to local caching proxy in HTML output
  * Avoid using buggy showrev on Solaris 10 x86
  * Adapt time of day in check for new patchdiag.xref
  * Fix handling of empty lines in patch list files
  * Update whitelist for safe patch install mode

It is working for me (root passwd and localhost:631, on Solaris 10, 
SPARC). I'm wondering how you have set up PAM authentication. Are you 
using LDAP by any chance?

My ignorance of package management is showing. The majority of the SAMP
(Solaris, Apache, MySQL, Perl/PHP) environment we run comes from
blastwave except for PHP because I need oracle support compiled in.
Because I compile my own PHP I ran into a bug
(http://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=39354) that php doesn't play nice with
CURL 7.16 whose blastwave package I recently upgraded to.
 
How do I downgrade from CURL 7.16 to the previous stable package ? 
How do I find which packages depend specifically on 7.16 ?

Do you know if 7.16.1 fixes the problem?  This was recently released
to unstable as 7.16.1,REV=2007.02.03.

The package in stable is 7.16, to downgrade further you will have
to get a backup copy and install manually.

First remove curl and curlrt (as root):

# pkgrm CSWcurl CSWcurlrt

Old packages are stored here:

grab the back ups, eg:

$ wget http://blastwave.informatik.uni-erlangen.de/oldpkgs/unstable/spa\

decompress:

and same for curl.

The problem is not with the CURL but with PHP. Which is why I may need
to downgrade CURL in order to get PHP to compile. But thanks for letting
me know about the archive, I'll probably need it.

Hi

As you may already know, a new version of Xfce has been released on the 
21st of January. I have started to upgrade the Blastwave packages 
(actually version is 4.2.3).

A first set of packages have been build, but actually there exist 
several problems. That is the reason why i haven't yet release my 
packages to testing nor unstable.

The current version has several configuration and segmentation fault 
problems. I will release a first set of package when segmentation fault 
issues will be solved (configuration problem will be easy to fix). 
Problems may come from an version compatibility issue with other libs 
(which we may have to be update also).

I'll let you know for future progress.

Hi,

After I installed gnome 2.14 from unstable branch, I got some strange
strings on the menus of gnome programs ( such as gedit ). Before the normal
keyboard shortcuts for a menu item, there's a msg 'keyboard label' like:

Open keyboard label / Ctrl+O

It also happens with clock applet when I click it, for every day digits in
calendar, it shows Calendar:day | x ( where x is digits, such as 5 ).

Everything still work the way they should (including the keyboard
shortcuts), but it would be nice If it could fix it.

I googled and found this URL

it is  language support issue?

This is my environment:

Sun blade 100 + Solaris 10 06/2006  + CSW gnome 2.14 + en.US.iso8859-1locale

I'm using the CSWnrpe package from the unstable branch. The start/stop
method in /opt/csw/lib/svc/method/svc-nrpe I found is no good.

It does not take zones into account and it does not use the right UIDs.

I changed it to look like this:

Thanks for the great job on providing useful Free Software to Solaris users!

I have recently run into a problem with KDE from Blastwave on 2 systems.
After a clean install of the OS and KDE 3.4 from Blastwave stable onto both
a Solaris 10 (SPAC) and a Solaris 9 (SPARC) system, KDE programs can not
find the SSL libraries, which makes it difficult to run konqueror and other
SSL-aware KIOslaves (https and webdavs are the most important to me).

Going into the konqueror setup and using the "Crypto" tab, I try to enter
every combination of lib directories I can think of, but when I click
"Test", all I ever get back is an error "Failed to load OpenSSL: libssl was
not found or successfully loaded".  I have tried /opt/csw/lib,
/opt/kde_gcc/lib, /usr/sfw/lib, /usr/local/lib, etc..., all of which have a
copy of libssl.so.  I have tried putting the different lib directories into
crle, with no results.

Please let me know if there is any other information that would be helpful
in diagnosing this issue!

This happens for both mysql4 and mysql5, even if I also got both at
blastwave.

Any help would be dearly appreciated. Googling gave no additional info or
workarounds. I've tried compiling the source packages from the unixodbc and
myodbc websites, but compilation of these doesn't seem that straightforward
for solaris.

Mike,

Awesome.  Thanks for the suggestion.  I guess I assumed that the "test"
button would try to load the libs from the directory in the text entry
field, and that once the test succeeded I would then hit "apply" or "OK" to
save the changes.  I never in a million years thought to "apply" the change
and then test it.

Firstly Thanks for providing useful community packages for Solaris
users!

I installed gnome from unstable branch of Blastwave for a blade 100 box
with Solaris 10 06/06. I understood this is unstable branch, there will
be problems, but I still got lots of problem that should not happen ( in
my opinion) since it is too obvious to see, sorry if it is only problem
on my box, but I dont think so.

I did a fresh installation of solaris 10 06/06 on blade 100, and then
install CSW-gnome from unstable branch. Let's see if your guys have same
situation on following problems:

1. There is problem loading clock applet when loggin in CSW gnome. After
investigation, /opt/csw/libexec/clock-applet get the link problem on
mozilla libs: missing libsmime3.so, libssl3.so libsoftokn3.so
libplds4.so libpldc4.so libnspr4.so, which is actually
in /opt/cswlib/mozilla

2. The evolution also has same problem as clock applet.

3. Each time, I move the folder in Desktop, the nautilus will crash and
restart

4. gnome-dictionary crash, and cannot work

5. gaim start with the problem on gstreamer

6. Each gnome menu has weired menu item, for example in gedit, the
file->Quit menu item is displayed as 
Quit   Keyboard Label|Ctrl+Q
What kind of locale used when building the package, I try to set to C,
en_US.UTF-8, en_US.iso8859-1, all have the same promble.

7. Rythmbox crash as it is in stable branch. If everyone has this
problem, should this package be removed from package list at least?

8. In evolution, no matter what setting I have for HTML email, the
images cannot be loaded.

9. In evolution, if it is trying to load a HTML mail with lots of image,
the loading process hangs, the preview panel will not change even I
click other email, then the evolution cannot shutdown any more, I have
to hard kill the process.

10 In evolution, the LDAP address cannot be used,  the error message in
console as

(evolution-2.6:3929): evolution-addressbook-WARNING **: error loading
addressbook : e_book_load_uri: no factories available for uri

11. in evolution, the LDAP address cannot removed, when try to remove,

12. In gnome-terminal, the font should be anti-alias, but it is not.

Could anybody response with a few word to indicate if you have same
situation or not. If it is common among gnome users, then the maintainer
can know there are issues in unstable branch.

Is there any way to suppress the exorbitant amount of output blastwave
outputs when installing a package? I recently was trying an automated
Solaris 10 install system we have set up, and one of the automated
post-install steps was to install blastwave and several packages from
it. However, I was doing this over a serial link, and since several
packages output the entire GPL and LGPL when installing, it took quite
a bit of time (longer than the entire rest of the install, as I recall).

Are there any options to make pkg-get quieter (or the underlying
pkgadd invocations), or at least to not display the licenses?

Debian based one. According to the Linux distro, there are
php4_mail-mime and php4_fpdf available for installation.

Are these libs available on Solaris as well ?

CVS Emacs corresponding to your architecture and, if you're a TeX user,
the nifty AucTex package.

There is a new dependency on CSWungif that must be installed prior to
the CSWemacs package installation.

Note that this version includes the successors of: oortgnus and
emacscalc, available as Blastwave packages, and many other, previously
separate, packages --- e.g., tramp.

I'll made a new testing package the next month.

i installed cups 1.2.7 on solaris 10 x86 U3.
i'm using http://localhost:631 to add a usb printer, but when cups ask 
for passwd, it failed, even with machine root passwd.
I tried to give a password witch lppasswd, which writes in 
/opt/csw/etc/cups/passwd.md5
in error.log, i got:

PCA (Patch Check Advanced) is available from testing.

Here is, from the announcement email of the Author, list of new features and changes in PCA 5.3:

  * Add option to list patches with a minimum age (--minage=DAYS)
  * Fix installation of Studio 11 patches on Solaris 10 (enforce -G)
  * Small modifications to make pca-proxy.cgi run under Linux
  * Generate links to local caching proxy in HTML output
  * Avoid using buggy showrev on Solaris 10 x86
  * Adapt time of day in check for new patchdiag.xref
  * Fix handling of empty lines in patch list files
  * Update whitelist for safe patch install mode
  * Update workaround for patches missing in patchdiag.xref

It is working for me (root passwd and localhost:631, on Solaris 10, 
SPARC). I'm wondering how you have set up PAM authentication. Are you 
using LDAP by any chance?

My ignorance of package management is showing. The majority of the SAMP
(Solaris, Apache, MySQL, Perl/PHP) environment we run comes from
blastwave except for PHP because I need oracle support compiled in.
Because I compile my own PHP I ran into a bug
(http://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=39354) that php doesn't play nice with
CURL 7.16 whose blastwave package I recently upgraded to.
 
How do I downgrade from CURL 7.16 to the previous stable package ? 
How do I find which packages depend specifically on 7.16 ?

Do you know if 7.16.1 fixes the problem?  This was recently released
to unstable as 7.16.1,REV=2007.02.03.

The package in stable is 7.16, to downgrade further you will have
to get a backup copy and install manually.

First remove curl and curlrt (as root):

# pkgrm CSWcurl CSWcurlrt

Old packages are stored here:

grab the back ups, eg:

$ wget http://blastwave.informatik.uni-erlangen.de/oldpkgs/unstable/spa\

decompress:

The problem is not with the CURL but with PHP. Which is why I may need
to downgrade CURL in order to get PHP to compile. But thanks for letting
me know about the archive, I'll probably need it.

Hi

As you may already know, a new version of Xfce has been released on the 
21st of January. I have started to upgrade the Blastwave packages 
(actually version is 4.2.3).

A first set of packages have been build, but actually there exist 
several problems. That is the reason why i haven't yet release my 
packages to testing nor unstable.

The current version has several configuration and segmentation fault 
problems. I will release a first set of package when segmentation fault 
issues will be solved (configuration problem will be easy to fix). 
Problems may come from an version compatibility issue with other libs 
(which we may have to be update also).

I'll let you know for future progress.

Hi,

After I installed gnome 2.14 from unstable branch, I got some strange
strings on the menus of gnome programs ( such as gedit ). Before the normal
keyboard shortcuts for a menu item, there's a msg 'keyboard label' like:

Open keyboard label / Ctrl+O

It also happens with clock applet when I click it, for every day digits in
calendar, it shows Calendar:day | x ( where x is digits, such as 5 ).

Everything still work the way they should (including the keyboard
shortcuts), but it would be nice If it could fix it.

I googled and found this URL

it is  language support issue?

This is my environment:

Sun blade 100 + Solaris 10 06/2006  + CSW gnome 2.14 + en.US.iso8859-1locale

Thanks for the great job on providing useful Free Software to Solaris users!

I have recently run into a problem with KDE from Blastwave on 2 systems.
After a clean install of the OS and KDE 3.4 from Blastwave stable onto both
a Solaris 10 (SPAC) and a Solaris 9 (SPARC) system, KDE programs can not
find the SSL libraries, which makes it difficult to run konqueror and other
SSL-aware KIOslaves (https and webdavs are the most important to me).

Going into the konqueror setup and using the "Crypto" tab, I try to enter
every combination of lib directories I can think of, but when I click
"Test", all I ever get back is an error "Failed to load OpenSSL: libssl was
not found or successfully loaded".  I have tried /opt/csw/lib,
/opt/kde_gcc/lib, /usr/sfw/lib, /usr/local/lib, etc..., all of which have a
copy of libssl.so.  I have tried putting the different lib directories into
crle, with no results.

Please let me know if there is any other information that would be helpful
in diagnosing this issue!

This happens for both mysql4 and mysql5, even if I also got both at
blastwave.

Any help would be dearly appreciated. Googling gave no additional info or
workarounds. I've tried compiling the source packages from the unixodbc and
myodbc websites, but compilation of these doesn't seem that straightforward
for solaris.

Above received when starting Thunderbird 1.5.0.8 from unstable AFTER 
doing an OpenSolaris10 update yesterday and then a blastwave update.

Following a suggestion of Jerome Benoit reported at www.nabble.com I put 
the following at /opt/csw/etc/pango/pangoc.

~>cat /opt/csw/etc/pango/pangorc
[Pango]
ModuleFiles=/opt/csw/etc/pango/pango.modules

Mike,

Awesome.  Thanks for the suggestion.  I guess I assumed that the "test"
button would try to load the libs from the directory in the text entry
field, and that once the test succeeded I would then hit "apply" or "OK" to
save the changes.  I never in a million years thought to "apply" the change
and then test it.

Hey all:

Firstly Thanks for providing useful community packages for Solaris
users!

I installed gnome from unstable branch of Blastwave for a blade 100 box
with Solaris 10 06/06. I understood this is unstable branch, there will
be problems, but I still got lots of problem that should not happen ( in
my opinion) since it is too obvious to see, sorry if it is only problem
on my box, but I dont think so.

I did a fresh installation of solaris 10 06/06 on blade 100, and then
install CSW-gnome from unstable branch. Let's see if your guys have same
situation on following problems:

1. There is problem loading clock applet when loggin in CSW gnome. After
investigation, /opt/csw/libexec/clock-applet get the link problem on
mozilla libs: missing libsmime3.so, libssl3.so libsoftokn3.so
libplds4.so libpldc4.so libnspr4.so, which is actually
in /opt/cswlib/mozilla

2. The evolution also has same problem as clock applet.

3. Each time, I move the folder in Desktop, the nautilus will crash and
restart

4. gnome-dictionary crash, and cannot work

5. gaim start with the problem on gstreamer

6. Each gnome menu has weired menu item, for example in gedit, the
file->Quit menu item is displayed as 
Quit   Keyboard Label|Ctrl+Q
What kind of locale used when building the package, I try to set to C,
en_US.UTF-8, en_US.iso8859-1, all have the same promble.

7. Rythmbox crash as it is in stable branch. If everyone has this
problem, should this package be removed from package list at least?

8. In evolution, no matter what setting I have for HTML email, the
images cannot be loaded.

9. In evolution, if it is trying to load a HTML mail with lots of image,
the loading process hangs, the preview panel will not change even I
click other email, then the evolution cannot shutdown any more, I have
to hard kill the process.

10 In evolution, the LDAP address cannot be used,  the error message in
console as

(evolution-2.6:3929): evolution-addressbook-WARNING **: error loading
addressbook : e_book_load_uri: no factories available for uri
`ldap://localhost:389/ou=people,dc=longhorn,dc=org??sub?'

11. in evolution, the LDAP address cannot removed, when try to remove,
the error message in console as

`OAFIID:GNOME_Evolution_DataServer_BookFactory:1.2'

12. In gnome-terminal, the font should be anti-alias, but it is not.

Could anybody response with a few word to indicate if you have same
situation or not. If it is common among gnome users, then the maintainer
can know there are issues in unstable branch.

Is there any way to suppress the exorbitant amount of output blastwave
outputs when installing a package? I recently was trying an automated
Solaris 10 install system we have set up, and one of the automated
post-install steps was to install blastwave and several packages from
it. However, I was doing this over a serial link, and since several
packages output the entire GPL and LGPL when installing, it took quite
a bit of time (longer than the entire rest of the install, as I recall).

Are there any options to make pkg-get quieter (or the underlying
pkgadd invocations), or at least to not display the licenses?
