Am on 5.8.
Do you suggest
   su
   cd /opt/csw/bin
   ln -s md5 gmd5sum
Then these packages will leave me alone?

CSWtextutils	/opt/csw/bin/gmd5sum

If you're on Solaris 10 you can also use "digest -a md5 <file>".
