found
I don't know if the problem is in wireshark or in libglib-2.0. Thanks for
looking into this.

The "not up to date" is probably my home system, which hasn't seen an
update since Oracle closed down OpenSolaris. :P I shall have to try it on
the work system, which is Sol 10 with all the latest patches. Glad to know
it's my stuff and not the repo :)
