I found a patch that split the file up and forced alloca instead of
C_alloca for bootstrapping with a non-gnu compiler.

I applied and was able to pass the "issue"  compile "top" size ~ 200MB res ~ 190MB
opposed to size ~ >600MB res ~500MB
