I can live without it, but it's a really useful tool when looking for
header files and such.  If I don't have glocate I use find, but it's
much slower if I want to run several variants of a search.

If it's taking a long time, you can schedule it once a week, it's
still better than not at all.  Also, /export can be safely excluded.
