The problem is not the license. The problem is that Solaris 8 x86
will not work under ESX because of the missing SCSI driver for
Solaris.

Yes. You have lx (Linux) brand for x86 and solaris8 and solaris9
brands for sparc.

I propose LDAPS with proxy-auth.

FYI: The zone for LDAP is idling for some weeks now. Care to start
the installation?
