compiling many of our packages oneself is "not that hard" either.
  ./configure --prefix=/where/you/like
  make
  make install

but for some reason, many people seem to appreciate being able to skip 
those "not hard" steps, into a simpler, single step
;-)

having wrappers is a nice thing.
