IIRC RPATH had been used in the past, but was considered evil as it had
priority over LD_LIBRARY_PATH and you could not override it. That's why
RUNPATH had been introduced.

- RPATH (deprecated, not used)
- LD_LIBRARY_PATH
- RUNPATH
- crle settings

I would suppose RPATH is still in there for compatibility purposes.
