the changes were to the "patches" I wrote to get 5.2.6 to compile. so nothing to really complain about there.
I had to fix 1 chunk out of 14.  5.2.9 is a "fix release" to 5.2.8...  I don't plan on releasing it too quickly.
but I was pinged on it by a user, so I built 5.2.9 and put it in testing so they could "test" it.
