Hi,

current fontconfig version is now in testing at http://mirror.opencsw.org/testing/ 
  :

fontconfig-2.6.0,REV=2009.03.30-SunOS5.8-i386-CSW.pkg.gz
fontconfig-2.6.0,REV=2009.03.30-SunOS5.8-sparc-CSW.pkg.gz

Please give it a try.
