I have to agree, reluctantly, with Philip. However, I do think a separate
mailing list for the Big Projects, like GNOME, KDE... etc. with all the
maintainers on them. that way those that would like to follow the progress
can, and those that do not, can filter out the incoming mail.
This would also allow the other maintainers to follow the progress and make it
easier to contribute free cycles if they so choose.
