no. That part of the database is the official status of a maintainer.
As such, it should only be modified by agreement of 'the board'.

Yes, we are overdue for a cleanup of old invalid maintainers. I
figured it would be inappropriate if the current exiting board did a
large cleanup of maintainer status this last though
