actually it would probably complain that the target binaries it was
replacing, dont match, and then refuse to patch. but depending on the
particular patch, it might.

offering pkgrm as an option, sounds like a good thing.
Also though, particularly for the "no pkgrm" option.. make sure to
provide an UNinstall script, to match up with the (/usr) install
script please.
