Something wrong with the package release chain?

I have put a provisional fix in place. Please do some more testing: uploads
and * copies into experimental. The problem should not occur any more.

Lots of thanks to Laurent, Peter and Slow for reporting the symptoms, I
wouldn't have fixed it without their help!
