I suggest to add different targets per platform. Currently we have
  PACKAGING_PLATFORMS ?= solaris10-sparc solaris10-i386
which should default to
  PACKAGING_PLATFORMS ?= solaris10-sparc-svr4 solaris10-i386-svr4
and
  PACKAGING_PLATFORMS ?= solaris11-sparc solaris11-i386
would default to
  PACKAGING_PLATFORMS ?= solaris11-sparc-ips solaris11-i386-ips

If you want explicitly SVR4 packages for Solaris 11 you would need to add
  PACKAGING_PLATFORMS += solaris11-sparc-svr4 solaris11-i386-svr4

This way it is up to the package to decide what to build.
Thoughts?

Best regards
