Peter has no interest in this version.  If he did, he would have
released this option himself.  You do have interest and indicated you
think others will too.

Thus, I think it makes sense for you to submit it so that it's
registered to your name.  Peter shouldn't need to handle any potential
bugs for something he has no interest in.  My only interest in this is
ensuring that we don't have the ncurses version in GAR while your
minimal version is elsewhere.

Well, if you ask me, the minimal version is of little use at all, but
since you seemed to think it worthwhile, here it is.  It's not Peter's
burden though.  If you don't want to release build it, then don't
release it and leave Peter's version as is without alternatives
support.
