 I did what you suggested me to do. But any how it did not work because of
the following errors:

Could not resolve address
"xml:readonly:/opt/csw/etc/gconf/gconf.xml.mandatory" in the config file
"/opt/csw/etc/gconf/2/path" Failed: Could not make directory
"/opt/csw/etc/gconf/gconf.xml.mandatory" read only file system.

 I did it like you proposed:
