Also, when I get these types of errors, I do the following. 

log out and start a console
evolution --force-shutdown (should kill evolution-wombat)
kill remaining evolution processes (probably alarm-notify), 
bonobo-activation-server and gconfd-2  running under your userid.  All
of these procesess should be the /opt/csw ones and not /usr
