Sorry to disappoint you once again, but after having installed the
gnomevfs2 package you are refering to, the splash screen still takes 2-3
minutes for vanishing, as well as the background image takes the same
time to load up. So I consider this problem as not being fixed yet and
wouldn't consider the blastwave GNOME to be production ready.

And please note that I have tried the recent GNOME stuff on our 2.10
server with the very latest patches  and I even rebooted it. Nothing has
changed after having installed the 2006.11.15 package of gnomevfs2.
