I've joined the yahoo group to download the source file. I wrote a build for cfg2html, no idea if it's the way it should be. Can you test it and get back to me with comments? Unfortunately, this also has a disastrous effect on anything outside OpenCSW built against the libraries. When built against explicit versions (i.e. /opt/csw/bdb43), I think it is a reasonable expectation that that will continue to be version 4.3.x -- not capriciously change to an incompatible 4.7.x version. I can understand changing bdb4 to the latest version (though this breaks things as well), but making bdb43, bdb44, etc reference another version is guaranteed to cause problems. At the very least the description and version information in the packages (CSWbdb4, CSWbdb43, CSWbdb44) should accurately reflect that the packages are now a reference to the current version. This would help in tracking down problems and also provide meaningful information from "pkg-get compare". Unfortunately it told me I was getting "4.2.52,REV=2009.07.28" (CSWbdb), "4.3.29,REV=2009.06.26" (CSWbdb43) and "4.4.20,REV=2009.07.28" (CSWbdb44) which clearly is not the case. That's right. But actually it does work only on Solaris 9 and 10. So I provides a Sol 9 package for both of these platform, and a Solaris 8 for testing purpose on this platform. As i said in theother email, Solaris 8 package also work on Solaris 9 and 10 (but not 8). Generally, gcc 3 is only used when gcc is required but the code doesn't work in 4 for odd reasons not worth fixing. > front. The following is the set of packages that GAR (the CSW build system) depends on to get going: CSWgmake CSWgtar CSWggrep CSWdiffutils CSWgfile CSWtextutils CSWwget CSWfindutils CSWgsed CSWgawk CSWbzip2 Some of those won't be strictly necessary, but would likely help. CSWautoconf may help if `configure` isn't shipped with your package, although that's not common. Also, you'll want -dev/-devel/etc packages for things you're building against if they've been separated out from the main package. If you're interested, you could sign up to be a maintainer and share the work you're doing with others too...? You'd get an account on the buildfarm which gives you access to the various platforms that are supported by CSW packages to build on. The man page for libpthread(1) says: For multithreaded programs that have been previously linked with the standard threads library, the environment variables LD_LIBRARY_PATH and LD_LIBRARY_PATH_64 can be set as follows to bind the program at runtime to the alternate threads library: LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/lib/lwp LD_LIBRARY_PATH_64=/usr/lib/lwp/64 so maybe you can swap the path in the start script with no need to build with -L/usr/lib/lwp as well as -R/usr/lib/lwp. There is more in the man page about the differences in use of system resources: When using the alternate one-level threads implementation, be aware that it may create more LWPs than the standard implementation using unbound threads. LWPs consume operat- ing system memory in contrast to threads, which consume only user-level memory. Thus a multithreaded application linked against this library that creates thousands of threads would create an equal number of LWPs and might run the system out of resources required to support the application. Perhaps the start script needs: if [ "`uname -r`" = "5.8" ] ; then LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/lib/lwp C thread experts please chip in. James. Is that correct? or is there a way to get that back? Am I right in thinking I'll need to download/compile a personal "home directory" version of 4.4 and run the recover using that? In addition to the workaround Ihsan advised please note also that there will a new version of Trac be released shortly, so please take a careful eye on updating. To make updating both easier and safer in the future there is currently work going on to provide freezes of the package tree. I do understand your anger about the project, but I don't see how changing package sources will bring your repository back. It may be best to fix the checksum after making a copy of the current repo e. g. descibed here http://blackcompanystudios.co.uk/blog/user/mrcranky/237 and then dump and reload it to fsfs. Hi Tim, When you have the broken package installed, you need to take additional steps to remove it first. I've updated the issue: http://www.opencsw.org/bugtrack/view.php?id=3869 sudo rm /var/sadm/pkg/CSWsyslogng/install/postremove sudo touch /etc/opt/csw/syslog-ng.conf.CSW sudo pkgrm CSWsyslogng sudo rm /etc/opt/csw/syslog-ng.conf.CSW Once the old one is removed, the new one can be installed. In a nutshell, in order to build pgadmin3, some preparation is needed. In pgadmin3 INSTALL file, we can see step 3 as below. Also, please find the Makefile I was working on attached to this file. I hope it help you guys. Building: 1) Install libxml2 and libxslt if they are not already present on your system, per the instructions included with them. 2) Install PostgreSQL per the instructions included. It is recommended that you build with OpenSSL support, using the --with-openssl configure option. 3) Unpack the wxGTK tarball to a convenient location, and build and install it as follows: cd /path/to/wxGTK/source/ ./configure --with-gtk --enable-gtk2 --enable-unicode make sudo make install # Install wxWidgets contrib modules. cd contrib/ make sudo make install A script is included in the pgAdmin source tarball (xtra/wx-build/build-wxgtk) which will build and install wxWidgets in each combination of shared/static/debug/release builds for you. 4) Unpack the pgAdmin tarball to a convenient location, and build and install it as follows: bash bootstrap # Required only if building from an SVN checkout ./configure make all sudo make install If any of the prerequisite components are installed in locations that the configure script cannot find, you may specify their locations on the command line. See the configure help (./configure --help) for details. Is it really incompatible? With the symlinks in place there shouldn't be a difference for most applications as BDB is ABI-compatible. If there are any problems please post them! Generally, gcc 3 is only used when gcc is required but the code doesn't work in 4 for odd reasons not worth fixing. > front. Is there a site any where that might give me a list > of the basic packages I need for a fairly complete compile environment? It would be a very good news :) It makes it run. I've not tested much nor with Solaris 9 or 10 with this setting. James. The problem you describe sounds ugly, but there were no reports about this problem during upgrade now. I don't know if it really connects to your update or some other strange bug, but also asking on the subversion list is definitely a good idea. > My issue: > I upgraded svn and trac a couple days ago via opencsw(mostly > "testing") and when I used svn I got a FATAL error (below this > email, sent to list a couple days ago) > > To fix that problem, using a link to old copy from someone on this > list, I did the solution: > 1. This version supports Solaris 8 and newer (thanks goes to James Lee for pointing me the solution). Thunderbird has also been updated to version 2.0.0.23, latest stable before TB3 is released. cheers W. -- William http://www.wbonnet.net http://www.sunwizard.net Le site fran?ais des amateurs de stations Unix http://www.opencsw.org Community SoftWare for Solaris http://www.guses.org French speaking Solaris User Group
