All the work and churn has been confined to the unstable catalog, saving you hassle with the constant stream of updates. However, since the works are progressing at the normal pace, the testing / dublin / current catalog (Solaris 9 and up) will soon get a large, accumulated update. The update migrates all updated packages from the unstable catalog to testing / dublin. If you want additional safety during the upgrade, you can temporarily switch one of your machines to the unstable catalog and run pkgutil -y -u. If everything goes well, you can update the other machines using the dublin catalog. To learn more about the unstable and testing catalogs, you can read this news item: http://www.opencsw.org/2012/01/which-catalog-should-i-use/ We expect upgrades to go smoothly, but in case of any problems, don't hesitate to contact us: either here, or at #opencsw on Freenode. The package cannot coexist with the current MySQL 5.0 package, it's either-or. I've smoke-tested it: it installs, initializes the database and starts up successfully. You can install it with pkgutil: pkgutil -t http://buildfarm.opencsw.org/experimental.html#mysql-5.5 \ -y -i mysql5 MySQL 5.5 will most likely not be included in the dublin release, so if you are getting packages from testing/current/dublin, you won't get 5.5 for some time. If you're running the unstable release, you should get it after we release dublin and start pushing new versions of packages to unstable. Until then, please fetch the package from the experimental catalog. Feedback is greatly appreciated! Ruby 1.8 uses green threads and doesn't actually leverage kernel threads so this seems like an easy choice...unfortunately, turning off the support can impact libraries such a tcl/tk. So the question is: Is anyone using libraries such as tcl/tk from ruby (eg: CSWruby18-tk)? Personally, I'm happy to drop it in order to gain better performance but I'd rather not do so if sites are depending on it. Let me know. (Also, I've picked up ruby 1.9 again and will hopefully have something useful in the near future.) Ok, you are on Solaris 10 which received a package update to 4.8.0 which the Solaris 9 version didn't which I looked at. The build is pretty much standard: http://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/gar/browser/csw/mgar/pkg/mc/trunk/Makefile In the FAQ from the package it says ~/.config/mc/ini so I guess it was upstreams choice to relocate it. Where did you read about the location? Probably it is worth filing a bug report upstream. I've confirmed that the apache2 worker mpm exhibits this behaviour on my test system though. Would you mind filing a bug in our mantis database? I have several other issues to address in php5 as well, so I'll try to roll them into an update shortly. You need to recompile PHP."); return DONE; } #endif The ZTS is defined if the configuration option --enable-maintainer-zts is used but it is described as: Enable thread safety - for code maintainers only!! So that explains why it's bailing out now. Looking at the svn tree for the file that generates the error, I'm under the impression that this is very old code as is the autoconf handling for it. This doesn't help much, I know, but it's a start. I noticed issue 4483 seems similar but I didn't have problems with the previous version of apache starting up (the previous versions of apache2 and ap2_modphp5). So the error is correct. Did you always run the worker mpm? If yes then maybe the new PHP includes now a check and does not start with worker mpm. The prefork MPM should work. This is true and still matches their recommendations, but in the past it was possible to run php with the worker mpm and it didn't cause problems (usually) unless one of the modules wasn't thread safe. My understanding is that _core_ php is supposed to be thread safe but the modules don't carry that guarantee. (This may be an out of date understanding though.)
