Yes, I restored the daemon and initiated catalog generation, it should be ready in 30 minutes. The problem was human error: when I thought I was restoring the passphrase on an existing daemon, I was actually starting a new one. We ended up with two signing daemons running at the same time. I'm not sure what was the exact interplay between them, but apparently it led to unsigned catalogs. The packages are called now "munin_master", "munin_node" and "munin_common". Before installing the new packages, please make a backup of your existing rrd files. They should be located under /etc/opt/csw/munin/db. The Munin developers say, that upgrading is straightforward and data loss should not occure, but better be cautious. Until now I could only test the installation of a fresh Munin master and node, so I'd really appreciate to get some feedback about upgrading from earlier versions to 2.0.0. After installing the packages you will see a message with the necessary steps to get the node or the master running. On [2] the installation is described a little bit more in detail (not very comprehensive yet). As Munin 2.x now creates it's graphs only via CGI scripts, the master's new configuration file has some new options. When upgrading from an earlier version, you need to merge your existing config file with the delivered config sample (as described in the installation message too). Just copying the new options into your config should work. The configuration for the Apache Webserver has been changed too. Now the sample config creates a VirtualHost, read it carefully. The sample config is just taken from the Munin developers. If you have other suggestions - maybe without defining a virtual host - I'm glad to include one or two alternative config samples. After a (fresh) installation of Munin wait for the first run of the master's cronjob. Before that you will get an error message in your browser like this: "Can't use an undefined value as an ARRAY reference at /opt/csw/share/perl/site_perl/Munin/Master/HTMLOld.pm line 656." The CGI script has just no data to work with. So, feedback to improve the packages is very welcome. Enjoy! If I take the binary compiled on Solaris 9 to a Solaris 10 box it works just right. Most certainly this is not a compilation problem but something on the code regarding portability on Solaris 9 which needs to be debugged. It may also be connected to this bug I also haven't found yet: https://www.opencsw.org/mantis/view.php?id=4694 Unfortunately I don't have time to investigate this myself at the moment. Please talk to upstream at http://sourceforge.net/projects/tmux/ I'll happily accept a patch to respin the package. I think we won't be doing (as a rule) any version bumps to the dublin catalog anymore. We've set up additional build hosts with dublin packages on them, and will use them to push security fixes. If a security fix requires a version bump, we'll probably do it, unless we find a backported patch with the fix. We haven't figured out how to release directly to the dublin catalog, which is one of the reasons for the lack of updates. Our pipeline currently defaults to unstable, and we want to make sure that there are no accidental pushes to dublin by someone who meant to push into unstable. It'll requre some coding and testing before we'll get any new updates to dublin. The long term plan for dublin is for it to become the new stable. Do you have an > estimate of when for example subversion-1.7.5 (currently in unstable) > will be in testing? We don't have any estimates right now, sorry. There's an ongoing project to upgrade OpenSSL. It isn't trivial, because dependencies between binaries and libraries sometimes cause two versions of the SSL library to be loaded at the same time, which causes crashes, or failed checks. binary1 ? libssl.so.1.0.0 binary1 ? library1 library1 ? libssl.so.0.9.8 (ouch!) There's a project tracking page for the rebuild effort, you can get a sense how much work it requires: http://wiki.opencsw.org/project-openssl We won't be able to responsibly call this ?testing?, before the upgrade to openssl-1.0.0 is complete, or at least when we know that there are no double linkages between binaries. Once we get that sorted out, we'll think about promoting unstable to testing. But this means that we have to make space for new testing, by promoting dublin to stable. We think that we can't just flip the symlink. If there are users who pull packages from stable, and suddenly upgrade a lot of packages from the 2008 package catalog to the 2012 state, they might get a lot of problems, and we don't want that. We need to warn users about this, and we don't really have a mechanism to do this reliably. See this discussion: http://lists.opencsw.org/pipermail/maintainers/2012-March/016249.html There are some ideas to implement catalog checking in pkgutil, but there are still sites using pkg-get, so we're not sure we can depend on pkgutil either. Maybe intentionally breaking upgrades from the stable URL for a period of, say, 6 months or so, would do the job. So, overall, there is a number of issues and a lot of work ahead of us. As far as the promotion of dublin to stable is concerned, input from users would be greatly appreciated. Do people still use stable? Does anyone have performed a migration/upgrade from stable to dublin? If so, how did it go?
